As you already know, springtime is here and we can feel summer coming right around the corner. Students will be crawling out of their study areas, and starting their summer vacation.
It's tempting to camp out in front of the television with a bowl of chips, but the best memories are made outside in the company of your friends and family. Eventbrite makes it easy for you to find events and sell tickets to your own online. In the spirit of Eventbrite's mission to have 2016 be the year of GOMO (Going Out More Often), I compiled a list of things I'm excited about for the upcoming months, and stuff I badly want to do.

1. Camp out at Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is my most favorite place in the world. The first time I laid my eyes upon its waterfalls and towering glaciers, I was filled with disbelief that something that beautiful could exist in the world. My boyfriend Tim hasn’t been there before, and I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he sees it.
Fair warning, I may videotape it.

2. Geek out at San Diego Comic-Con
I attended this event when I was around 12-years-old, and since then I've watched it grow from afar. For years, my inner geek has been silently raising hell inside of me. This July I want to change that. I’ve been thinking about attending a writer’s conference, but unfortunately the pricing for their registration can go up to $700, which is well beyond my budget. SDCC is somewhat more affordable, and has a number of guest authors, comic book writers, and artists to listen and learn from. Plus, how fun is it to get excited over your favorite comics, movies, and video games with like-minded individuals?
3. Fall asleep to the sound of the ocean at the San Onofre State Beach
Campground
I used to camp in San Onofre with my family when I was younger, and loved hearing the sound of a crackling fire by my tent. Last week, my boyfriend’s sister had the fantastic idea to spend the beginning of our summer splashing around in the waves. I can’t wait. If you live in San Diego, the San Onofre State Beach Campground is one of the nearest places to pitch your tent by the Pacific Ocean.
4. Make memories with friends and family at the San Diego County Fair
Whenever I hear someone mention the fair, I forget that I am almost 25-years-old, and want to jump up and down in excitement. The San Diego County Fair contains a bevy of rides, food, shows, art, shopping exhibits, and concerts for the whole family to enjoy. If you want more information, I covered the San Diego County Fair in one of my previous posts here.
5. Float down the San Luis Rey River at the La Jolla Indian Campground
Okay, for years I kept seeing several pictures of happy families floating down a river in inner tubes on Pinterest. The fantasy of flying down a natural body of water that is not situated at a waterpark has haunted my dreams. But now I’ve finally found a campsite in the vincinity where I can rent inner tubes and actually do this. I’m not sure if the river will look the same as it does on their website’s photo gallery due to the recent drought, but here’s to hoping!
6. Take pictures of the stars at Joshua Tree National Park
Astrophotography has been one of my current hobbies, but it’s hard to capture the stars when there’s light pollution all around you. So when I found out two months ago that Joshua Tree is about three hours away from my house, I wanted to slap myself upside the head. This national park is famous for its view of our planet’s galaxy, and it even held its first Night Sky Festival the year before. Their available campgrounds are scattered around the park, including Indian Cove, Black Rock, and Cottonwood Spring. They are mostly first-come-first-serve, so we’ll likely go on a week day.
7. Catch a ball game at Petco Park
There's nothing like noshing on a bag of peanuts and cheering on your favorite baseball team (which in this case is the San Diego Padres).
Alright, I've never bought a bag of peanuts when I went, but hey, maybe I will this time. My boyfriend is a major baseball fan, and its fun to watch the excitement on his face, especially when a foul ball comes hurtling our way. We used to play baseball during the weekend, so I hope attending a game will get us excited enough to break out the baseball bats again.
Outfit: For this picture, I wore one of my favorite old dresses from deliA's. The lace is delicate and went well with the summer, boho look I was aiming for.
What are your plans for the spring and summer season, and how will you make 2016 your year of GOMO? Let me know in the comments below or on my app here (Android devices only).
