Last weekend I was treated to one of my favorite holiday traditions, the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights. Every year, a bevy of sailboats, canoes and ships would parade around the bay's perimeter in a string of lights and festive decorations. People from all over San Diego would gather around the shoreline to take in this magical display with family and friends, and this year was no different.
Seaport Village is one of the several locations people can go to watch the parade. It's also a great place for tourists to get snapshots of the bay and enjoy a wide variety of shops and restaurants. At Seaport Coffee and Fudge, we got ourselves steaming cups of hot chocolate and a chunk of fudge to battle the cold.

Even though it was fairly warmer than last year, sitting by the water can get cold, especially at night. For this holiday tradition, I decided to layer my outfit with different patterns and colors. Don't be afraid to mix plaid with stripes, just like this black and white dress by Lush and this camel scarf I found at a tiny gift shop.
If you don't want to wear pants, try wearing tights instead. These wine-colored goodies from Gap may not keep all the heat in, but they will provide some coverage and make you look stylish during the holidays.
The second layer comes in the form of a long, comfy cardigan by Merona. The cardigan's brown color will peek out from underneath your black rain coat, giving off an aura of sophistication.
In case it rains, slip on a comfortable pair of boots like these ones from Restricted. Your toes will thank you.
Outfit: Plaid caramel scarf (similar one here), Gap opaque tights ($12.95), REI rain jacket (similar one here), Merona long cardigan (similar one here), Restricted boots (similar one here).
