If you're stumped on where to go for a romantic day out, consider a trip to Heritage County Park. Located across from Old Town San Diego, this hidden gem will enchant visitors with its Victorian architecture. Many of the houses date back to the 1880's, and each one is just as beautiful as the next.
Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you choose to look at it, most of the houses are temporarily closed for renovation. But don't worry-you can still walk around and admire their exteriors. The Coral Tree Teahouse is also open from Thursday through Sunday at 11 o' clock in the morning at the McConaughy House.
Last Wednesday we walked through the park, surprised that we had never noticed this place before. To my delight, we found a trail starting from the side of the Christian House which led us up to a hill overlooking Heritage Park and San Diego County. The view was breathtaking and well worth having my boots get a little dusty.
In order to get a better look at these gorgeous houses without the sunlight blocking my vision, I wore a pair of aviator sunglasses in basic black. These aviators were so comfortable, I would sometimes forget that they were perched on my head.
One clever way to transition your outfit from day to night is to wear a pair of druzy studs. The sterling silver causes the glitter embossed center to pop, making it appear as if the night sky is trapped inside these beautiful earrings.
Heritage Park is open to the public during regular park hours. Don't miss the opportunity to check out this neat piece of local history.
