Balboa Park is one of my favorite places here in the city of San Diego. The park was built for the 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition and the history, the architecture and the culture that comes with it is an absolute gold mine to anyone who appreciates fine art. Yesterday we ventured through the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center set in what used to be a church building. The walls were lined with U.S. veteran medals, letters, pictures and much more. The stained glass windows contrasting with the sculptures of U.S. soldiers created a sacred atmosphere so strong that I decided it was best to put my camera aside.
Afterwards, we went to visit the gardens. Although the flowers were not in full bloom-it is winter, after all-the hedges and trees were still green and vibrant. I wanted to reflect the surrounding beauty with this flower print dress from Forever 21. The white color causes the dress to stand out and it prevents one from becoming a literal wallflower. Its full skirt has a playful feel to it and is a great piece to wear when exploring an urban park.
These pumps from Style&Co. have a rich, brown color which compliment's the dress' short skirt. It's a very practical shoe, but the heel gives it a fun twist, making it easy to wear from day to night. The light pink cardigan from Black Rivet is romantic and frames my customized necklace from Moon Glow beautifully. If you're going for an elegant, put-together look, this is the outfit for you.
