If you're planning to divulge in a Pina Colada on San Diego's finest beaches sometime this summer, here are some of the few things you need to look your absolute best.
1. Sun hats (or any type of hat for that matter)
I know, in San Diego most girls tend to wear their hair in a messy bun or an effortless braid. However, if you have a very sensitive scalp, I would recommend throwing that adorable sun hat into your beach bag just in case.
A few years ago, I made the mistake of going to a waterpark without one and paid the price dearly. Seriously, going to your friends’ wedding and having someone’s mother pluck a piece of dead skin off your head is not worth it.
BRING A HAT.

2. Sunglasses
Perch these babies onto your nose and you have instantly captured that cool, Californian look.
Plus, there’s that whole thing about protecting your eyes from UV rays. As someone who cannot afford to have her eyes get any worse, I’d say it’s a win-win situation.

3. Sundresses
Whether you’re living on the West Coast or in North Dakota, we can all agree: sundresses are a summer staple.
They’re easy to dress up or down and are perfect for slipping on after a dip in the water. I cannot tell you how many times I've came out of the water feeling more than uncomfortable after having sand rub me in all the wrong places. What a relief to know that a dress was the only thing I had to wrestle with in the bathroom!

4. Heels
I’m a wimp when it comes to walking in heels, which makes mid-inch heels an absolute godsend.
But I have to admit, a pair of heels will add a touch of class to almost any outfit, especially if you’re planning to spend some time in the Gaslamp District.

5. Sandals
There’s nothing worse than coming back from the beach with a ton of sand stuck in your shoe. Sandals, however, are very easy to clean at the beach’s wash stations. It will also show off that new nail polish you bought for the occasion!
